Brevard is known as the "White Squirrel Capital of the World." Our city is one of only a handful of places in North America to see a white squirrel, and most sitings usually have a Brevard connection. They are abound and you can often see these beautiful creatures just sitting in one of our rocking chairs outside.

        

For the more adventurous, Brevard has a never ending plethora of outdoor and relaxation activities. From classical music concerts to white water rafting, we have listed some activities below:

Waterfalls: Brevard has approximately 260 waterfalls in the area offering the ultimate nature experience. The local favorite "Sliding Rock" is a natural rock slide, where families can picnic and the kids can swim. The owners of The Inn at Brevard also own 100 acres in Cashiers, NC. The property is a 30 minute drive with scenic vistas. There is hiking, fly fishing, camping, and overcourse, one of the largest waterfalls privately owned in the southeast. Upon request, we offer a gourmet picnic basket for lunch.

Mountain Biking: There is excellent mountain biking in the area, which borders several state and national parks. TrekTravel.com has an all-inclusive biking trip which includes lodging arrangements here at the inn. Trails.com has a list of several trails in the area along with other activities.

Hiking: The Blue Ridge Mountains are famous for it's hiking possibilities. There are several spots we can reccomend in the area, and you are always welcome to take advantage of our property.

Rafting: Brevard is home to the French Broad River, which provides excellent rafting and other water sports. You can contact Headwater Outfitters, which provide several different water sports on the French Broad River.

Golfing: There are several golf courses in the area, including Glen Cannon and Connestee Falls.

Gambling and Native American History: Cherokee, NC is home to The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, who operate an open reservation with gambling. The reservation is approximate 2 hours away. All of the surround western North Carolina was once Cherokee land, and there is a rich history.

Dining: Brevard has several very nice restaurants. We can reccomend several restaurants in the area and make reservations for you.

Theatre and Music: For the movie conniesur, Brevard has a movie theatre downtown. For the more discriminating tastes, Brevard is nationally known for the Brevard Music Center, which holds a summer long music festival. Owing to the local arts college, Brevard College, the area is has a rich music and theatrical culture.

        We also provide the oppurtunity to visit The Biltmore Estate, the largest privately owned home in the United States. The home, still owned by the Vanderbilt family provides tours along with many other activities. We offer tickets upon request.
